Besides, we showed that Ce could inhibit cell proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner as determined by MTT assay. Moreover, this inhibitory effect on cell proliferation was accompanied with downregulation of CDK4 and cyclin D1 and upregulation of p21 and p27. These results suggested that Ce suppressed the proliferation of Hep-2 cells by increasing apoptosis and downregulating cyclin D1 and CDK4, thereby upregulating p21 and p27.
